Hoops are the perfect addition to your jewellery box, being easy to wear and great for showing off tiny charms. Choosing between them is a matter of personal preference, but it is important to know the difference and how to attach them.

Silver/Gold Hoops:

  • At Ice Skating Jewellery, we have chosen the top-hinged variety of hoop earrings to showcase our charms as they have proven to be the most secure when attached.
  • This style of hoop is crafted from hollow silver wire (tube) and features a fine silver wire at the top, which is attached to a tiny hinge that opens and closes into the silver hoop.
  • If you haven't worn these before, they can be a little bit tricky to attach initially. Practicing opening and closing them to understand how they work is very useful, as is putting them on in front of a mirror.
  • You may also find it much easier to put them on from the back of your earlobe to the front, so you can see the wire to push into the tube.

      Attaching hoops:

It is also important to note that before attaching any earrings, you should ensure your hands are clean and that your jewellery has been sanitized.

      1. Open the hinged clasp by gently pulling the hinged wire from the hoop.
      2. Thread the wire of the hoop through your ear very gently, following the curve of the wire, being careful not to stab yourself or cause a tear.
      3. Once the wire is completely threaded in, bring the back of the hinged hoop earring to meet the wire.
      4. With a gentle push, insert the wire into the tube and push the two ends of the earring together.
      5. You may also find it useful to use fine tweezers to push the wire into the tube.
      6. To avoid any tears, it is important for the wearer to learn to attach these earrings by themselves, as large hands and tiny earrings are not always the best combination!

      Silver/Gold Stud Hoops:

      • These sleeper-style stud hoop earrings are handmade from solid silver wire.
      • They feature a straight ear wire for simple attachment and are secured by a silver push/butterfly back.
      • The stud hoop earrings have stoppers at the ends to ensure that the charms do not get lost while being worn.
      • These earrings make a great alternative for those who struggle to attach the top-hinged hoop earrings.

      Why Choose Hoop Earrings?

Hoop earrings are a fantastic choice for several reasons. They're simple, lightweight, and effortlessly enhance your appearance by framing your face. Whether you're male, female, or non-binary, hoop earrings offer a versatile and elegant accessory option suitable for everyone.

From tiny Huggy style hoops to large statement pieces, there's a hoop earring to suit every taste and occasion. They're perfect for adding a touch of glamour to your outfit and elevating your style effortlessly.

At Ice Skating Jewellery, we believe hoop earrings are a must-have for any skater's wardrobe. They complement silver or gold ice skating necklaces beautifully and are comfortable enough to wear all day long.

Should You Wear Hoop Earrings While Skating?

If you're a figure skater, it's essential to consult your coach before wearing hoop earrings during training sessions or performances. Your coach can advise whether they're suitable for skating safely.

However, if you're just enjoying a casual skate at your local rink, hoop earrings are a stylish way to express your love for the sport.

How to Clean Your Hoop Earrings?

Maintaining your jewellery is important, and we recommend establishing a monthly cleaning routine. For Ice Skating Jewellery hoop earrings, start by soaking them in warm, soapy water. Gently brush away any dirt with a soft toothbrush. For oxidised jewellery, rinse it in warm, soapy water and dry it with a lint-free towel, avoiding anything abrasive that could damage the finish.

For heavily soiled jewellery, consider using a silver dip to remove tarnish before cleaning as usual. Additionally, remember to remove all gold-plated jewellery before showering and any Ice Skating Jewellery before swimming to prevent damage from chemicals commonly found in pools.
